Our Story
Saltbox
At Saltbox, we sincerely care about your well-being.
From 9 months old, our daughter suffered with repeated wheezing attacks. Over the years it has resulted in many hospitals visits, sometimes by ambulance and lots of overnight stays. We’ve been managing her symptoms with inhalers and steroid treatment but with repeated attacks and no improvement we decided to do our own research and look for other alternative ways to help her. This is when we came across salt therapy.
Salt therapy has its origins from the salt mines and caves of Eastern Europe, where people go to help with respiratory conditions, such as asthma, bronchitis, COPD and sinus issues.
The origins of modern salt therapy comes from a polish physician Dr Felix Boczkowski, who discovered that men working in the salt mines at Wieliczka suffered fewer respiratory problems than the general population. In Another study In 1949, German physician, Dr. K.H. Spannahel, who had observed during WWII that the people who were hiding in salt mines and caves from the bombs gained respiratory health benefits.
So we decided to try this new holistic approach , as we were willing to give anything a go. After a few sessions we noticed a huge difference. She went longer between attacks, she was coughing less.
We were amazed at how quickly she responded but travelling up and down the country was not practical so we decided to do Saltbox. Lincolnshires first Salt room. Salt Box is now complete and we cant wait to start welcoming our firsts guests to our facility.
